New 2025 Website

As part of the 2025 rebrand at Distant Journeys, I’ve also been closely involved in our new website project, working alongside our Engineering Lead, Chris Waller. While Chris has taken the lead from a technical standpoint, we collaborated heavily during the early stages – mapping out requirements, planning the data structure, exploring design concepts, creating mock-ups, and shaping the overall direction of the site.

The previous website was built on an outdated version of WordPress and simply wasn’t fit for purpose anymore. Thanks to the work Chris and I carried out throughout 2024 – introducing systems like Hygraph (Headless CMS) and Aprimo (Digital Asset Management) – the business has been able to move quickly towards a modern, fully future-ready platform built on the latest technology.

Although now live, the site is still a work in progress, and will eventually integrate with new business systems such as TigerBay and Relowise to support online bookings and live availability. It’s been a fantastic project to work on with Chris, and a huge amount of effort has gone into bringing this new website to life — but I think you’ll agree, the end result is well worth it.
